Your data, your choice
Privacy Policy
Last updated October 17, 2026
TrackMyCalorie helps you understand what you eat, and that means trusting us with personal information. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have.
- We never sell your data or use it for advertising.
- Steps and active calories from Apple Health or Health Connect stay on your device.
- Delete your account from the app at any time, and your data goes with it.
Who we are
TrackMyCalorie (“TrackMyCalorie”, “we”, “us”) makes the TrackMyCalorie app for iPhone and Android and runs the website at trackmycalorie.com. We are the controller of the personal information described in this policy.
This policy covers the app, the website and any support you get from us by email. If you have a question about it, or want to use any of the rights described below, email support@trackmycalorie.com.
Information you give us
Your account
- Email sign-up: your name, email address and a password. We store the password only as a secure one-way hash, never in a readable form.
- Sign in with Apple or Google: the name and email address the provider shares with us, and an identifier for your account with that provider. If you choose Apple’s “Hide My Email”, we only see the relay address Apple gives us.
Your profile and goals
To work out your calorie and macro targets, the app asks for your sex, date of birth, height, current weight, how often you work out, your goal (lose, maintain or gain weight), your target weight and pace, your diet preference, your daily step goal, your preferred units and your time zone. You can change any of these later in the app.
What you log
- Food diary entries, including the food, amount, meal and time.
- Custom foods and recipes you create.
- Weight entries.
- For AI search, the description of the meal you type and your answers to any follow-up questions, together with the result.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message.
Information collected automatically
- Sign-up progress. While you set up the app, before you have an account, we record which setup steps you reach and the answers you give, along with a random identifier created on your device, your platform (iOS or Android) and the app version. This lets you pick up where you left off and shows us where people get stuck. It is linked to your account only if you go on to create one.
- Technical and security logs. Like most online services, our servers record basic request details, such as IP address, time, the request made and any errors, to keep the service secure and working.
- App version checks. The app checks with our servers whether it needs an update.
We do not use advertising identifiers, third-party analytics or advertising tools in the app, and the website does not set tracking cookies.
Apple Health, Health Connect and your camera
If you choose to connect Apple Health (on iPhone) or Health Connect (on Android), TrackMyCalorie reads your steps and active calories burned. It does not write anything to Apple Health or Health Connect, and it does not read any other kind of health data.
This data is read and shown on your device only. It is not sent to our servers, is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never sold or shared. You can turn off access at any time in the Health app or in Health Connect settings.
The app uses your camera only to scan barcodes when you choose to. Camera images are processed on your device and are not stored or uploaded; only the barcode number is sent to our servers to look up the product.
How we use your information
- To create and run your account, and sign you in.
- To calculate your calorie and macro targets and show your progress.
- To save your diary, foods, recipes and weights, and sync them across your devices.
- To search foods, look up barcodes and produce AI meal estimates.
- To send you emails you need, such as password reset codes.
- To answer your questions and give support.
- To keep the service secure, and to prevent abuse and fraud.
- To understand, in aggregate, how the app is used so we can fix problems and improve it.
- To meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not share it for targeted advertising, and we do not use it to show you ads.
AI features
When you use AI search, the meal description you type and your answers to any follow-up questions are sent to Anthropic, the provider of the Claude AI models, which processes them on our behalf to produce the estimate. We do not send your name, email address or profile details with the request. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, this content is not used to train their models.
To check a recipe or find published nutrition values, the AI may run a web search based on the meal you described. These searches do not include your name or account details.
AI estimates are saved to your account so you can review and edit what was logged. Please avoid typing anything into AI search that you would not want stored, such as other people’s personal details.
Legal bases for processing
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we rely on these legal bases:
- Contract: to provide the app and the features you ask for.
- Explicit consent: for information about your health and body, such as your weight, height, diet and food diary, and for Apple Health or Health Connect data. You give this consent when you enter the information or connect the integration, and you can withdraw it at any time by deleting the information, disconnecting the integration or deleting your account.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the service secure, prevent abuse, and understand and improve how the app works, where those interests are not outweighed by your rights.
- Legal obligation: where the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
How long we keep information, and deleting your account
We keep your information for as long as you have an account. You can delete your account at any time in the app: open the Profile tab and tap Delete account. You can also ask us to delete it by emailing support@trackmycalorie.com from the address on your account. Our account deletion page walks through both options.
When you delete your account:
- You are signed out on every device and can no longer use the account.
- We permanently delete your profile, goals, food diary, custom foods, recipes, weights, AI search history and sign-in connections from our systems.
- If you signed in with Apple, we ask Apple to revoke our access.
- You can sign up again with the same email address, starting fresh.
Copies may remain in encrypted backups for a short time until those backups are replaced, and we may keep limited information where the law requires it or to resolve disputes. Technical and security logs are kept only for as long as they are needed for security and troubleshooting.
Data stored on your device, such as the offline copy of your diary, is removed when you sign out or uninstall the app.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you and get a copy of it;
- correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- delete your information;
- receive your information in a portable format;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.
You can view and change most of your information directly in the app. For anything else, email support@trackmycalorie.com. We may need to confirm it is really you before acting on a request. We will not treat you differently for using your rights.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your information, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you.
Security
We protect your information with industry-standard measures. Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted connections, passwords are stored as one-way hashes, the sign-in token on your device is kept in the device’s secure storage, and access to our systems is limited to people who need it.
No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password and tell us at support@trackmycalorie.com if you think your account has been compromised.
International transfers
We and our service providers may process your information in countries other than the one you live in, including the United States, where data protection laws may differ. When we transfer personal information out of the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, we use appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
Age requirement
TrackMyCalorie is for adults. You must be at least eighteen to create an account, and the app asks for your date of birth during setup. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email support@trackmycalorie.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes or the law requires. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and if the changes are significant we will tell you in the app or by email before they take effect.
